»My working group focusses on interactions on surfaces of solids. Beyond predicting atomic and electronic structures we calculate energy barriers of the dissociative adsorption as well as diffusion processes of atoms and molecules on surfaces – solely based on basic principles. We simulate electronic energy transfer processes, like energy dissipation in electron-hole-pair excitation in adsorption at metal surfaces, and the process of photoemission by ab initio molecular dynamics. The simulations, which are based on time dependent density functional theory, allow for detailed insights into the mechanisms of electronic  non adiabatic processes.«

Eckhard Pehlke. Since 2003 professor for Theoretical Physics at Kiel University. Before that research assistant at the Institute for Laser and Plasma Physics at the University of Duisburg-Essen, from 1996 to 1999 research assistant at the physics department of TU Munich. In 1999 habilitation at TU Munich, in 1989 doctorate at Kiel University.
