Antrittsvorlesung von Prof. Dr. Robert Rieger (Institut für Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik, AG Vernetzte Elektronische Systeme):

The use of electric apparatuses in medicine has a long history dating back over 200 years. With the recent advent of wearable fitness monitors and implantable neurostimulators, such devices are more prominent today than ever. In this talk, some relevant aspects in the design of miniaturized electronic circuits for biomedical acquisition systems are reviewed. Using selected examples from the presenter’s work, curious facts as well as current challenges and opportunities are highlighted. They serve to introduce the Chair of Networked Electronic Systems and its field of ASIC design at Kiel University.
