»Being a solid state and surface physicist I am deeply fascinated by the sheer unbelievable variety of spectacular structures, physical properties and cooperative phenomena, which originate from the pocket universes of solids and their surfaces. Understanding the properties of materials and interfaces on the basis of their electronic structure and dynamics is my primary goal. This is only possible with quantum mechanics, therefore pure (sub-)nano science.«

Kai Rossnagel (ResearcherID). Since 2017 Professor for Solid State Research with Synchrotron Radiation at Kiel University and Lead Scientist at DESY. Prior to that, professor for experimental and applied physics, senior lecturer and research associate at the Institute of Experimental and Applied Physics. PhD from Kiel University (2001), Feodor Lynen Research Fellow in Berkeley (2002-2003), Habilitation (2009), Visiting Scientist at the SPring-8 Research Center in Japan (2013-2016). Born in Kiel.
