»I develop semiconducting polymers and polymers, which are switchable by light or force. Regarding semiconducting polymers my focus is on the synthesis of novel monomers, for which we develop living cross-coupling polymerizations. Additionaly, we try to integrate atypical main group elements into heterocyclic monomers, hoping for different physical properties like lower bandgaps in contrast to typical organic heterocycles. Research on switchable polymers is a main topic within the CRC 677 “Function by Switching” with emphasis on synthetic problems of functionalization of switchable molecules and their integration into polymers.«
